Strategically positioned at the intersection of research on the management of knowledge, information, and data, CIKM is uniquely situated to highlight technologies and insights that materialize the big data and artificial intelligence vision of the future.
The posters and demos track at CIKM aims to provide the opportunity for researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to showcase their prototypes and research ideas to the community.
CIKM 2020 will be a fully virtual conference, with no travel involved, and presentations will be given via pre-recorded videos, followed by synchronized online discussions during the scheduled conference period.
Topics of Interest
We seek demonstrations and posters that showcase exciting new technologies and early prototypes within the scope of CIKM, as well as case studies from more mature systems with innovative features and functionalities. Authors are encouraged to submit their demo and poster papers that are aligned with this year’s conference theme “Data And Knowledge for the Next Generation: Sustainability, Transparency, Fairness.” We welcome submissions on all topics in the general areas of databases, information retrieval, and knowledge management.

Submission Guidelines – Demos
Demo papers should describe the intended audience, point out the innovative aspects of the system being presented, and explain how those aspects contribute to the state of the art in knowledge and information management. The submissions must also make clear what the audience will experience during the demo. Submissions that are case studies should also explain the case being demonstrated. Authors may also include a URL of a screencast video (up to 10 minutes), screenshots, and additional external material (e.g., shared code on GitHub). A demo paper must be no more than 4 pages long (including references).
Submission Guidelines – Posters
Poster papers generally include late-breaking results of new and innovative work-in-progress research. The poster session fosters informal interactions between presenters and conference attendees, who will have the opportunity to explore and exchange ideas on the latest ongoing research projects. Submitted posters are expected to be aligned with the main CIKM topics. A poster paper must be no more than 4 pages long (including references).
Reviewing process and accepted papers
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically, as PDF files formatted using the ACM camera-ready templates provided on the CIKM webpage. Papers should be submitted through the CIKM 2020 online submission system, using the “Posters and Demos” track.
The review of the poster and demo papers will be single-blind. All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee of the demos and posters track, who will evaluate the novelty of the technical features and/or research being presented, the research and/or development challenges, its expected impact, and its timeliness and relevance for the CIKM audience of practitioners and researchers. Demo and poster papers that describe case studies from mature systems will also be evaluated on the relevance of the system and innovative features and functionalities that are being included in the demonstration.
Accepted poster and demo papers will be part of the main conference proceedings.
There should be at least one online registration (at a reduced fee compared to when CIKM was not online) per accepted poster and demo paper. A video recording of a presentation of each accepted poster and demo (less than 5 minutes) will have to be submitted and at least one of the authors will be asked to be present during the online Q&A sessions scheduled in the programme. Work without a registration and not presented at the conference by its authors may be removed from the proceedings
